Sage Corps is seeking two city managers for its Encore Barcelona program (October 2026, March and October 2027).

Encore is a one-month, upscale study abroad program for adults ages 55 and older.
This part-time/temporary contract position will require approximately 6-8 hours of work per week over four weeks with some ramp-up work in advance.
All candidates MUST commit to be living in Barcelona during the program dates at all times.
Please do not apply if you will not be living in Barcelona during the months of March and October.
Responsibilities include: Act as local contact, resource, and chaperone for a cohort of 15 study abroad participants, ages 55-75, mostly from the United States Act as liaison (helpful but not required) between Sage Corps and local housing provider, our local university partner, and local guides.
Help develop a calendar of weekly cultural events and dinners at local restaurants for Encore participants to attend while in-country.
24/7 on-call emergency phone support for program participants (responsibility shared with a local co-city manager)



Support and handle any on-site crises in coordination with Sage Corps HQ Provide immediate and pertinent communication with Sage Corps HQ in the event of an emergency Assist participants in their adjustment to a new culture and help them to maximize their immersive learning opportunities in the city.
In case of emergency, coordinate with local partners in support of the participants including housing, medical professionals, and other local partners.
Communicate with Sage Corps HQ weekly regarding events and program management.
Potentially identify a colleague or friend to serve as city coordinator to assist in case of emergency or unavailability of city manager.
Assist with program setup if needed, including housing site visits and arranging some orientation events.
If possible, help sources immersive cultural activities and local guides/contacts.
Requirements: Conversant/fluent English speaker; fluent/native Spanish speaker; Catalan speaker helpful Living in the city (or within 25 minute commute to city center) with deep local knowledge of the city.

The two city managers can split the total program stipend of 3000 euros (less than 15 participants) or 3800 euros (if 15 or more participants) evenly, or prorated differently based on agreed workloads.
