Duration/Term: 19 calendar weeks (fixed-term) to cover an internal paternity leave.
Key Responsibilities Laboratory & Test Management: Oversee shopfloor workload, manage laboratory resources, and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely project delivery.
Operational Oversight: Manage a multidisciplinary working environment involving office‑based engineers, workshop teams (mechanical and electrical), and external stakeholders.
Project Planning: Prepare internal project proposals, including detailed estimations of time, cost, and resource expenditure.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor adherence to planning targets and implement effective countermeasures in the event of plan/vigente variances.
Testing Scope: Oversee a wide range of structural testing subdomains, including static and fatigue tests, damage tolerance, stiffness, bird impact, dynamic tests, and calibration for in‑flight load measurement.
Design & Analysis Support: Provide expert technical support to the Structural Design and Structural Analysis departments throughout the entire product development and maintenance life‑cycle.
Manufacturing & Services Support: Act as a technical point of contact for manufacturing and services divisions to resolve structural integrity queries.
Compliance & Airworthiness: Ensure all testing activities strictly adhere to airworthiness regulations, industry‑standard testing principles, and internal quality processes.
Risk Management:
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for proposed projects to analyse technical and operational feasibility.
Technology Roadmap: Identify emerging technology needs and lead the acquisition and implementation of new projects in alignment with the division’s long‑term technology roadmaps.
Digital Transformation: Contribute to the evolution of a modern, digitalised working environment within the laboratory sub‑domain.
Continuous Improvement: Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to optimise team efficiency and laboratory throughput.
Skills & Qualifications Education & Experience: Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering (Degrees in Industrial or Telecommunications Engineering will also be considered). Proven experience in structural testing environments within the aerospace industry.
Technical Competencies – Design & Modeling: Strong knowledge of airframe and system design details, with advanced proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 (3D Software).
Materials Science: Deep understanding of the behaviour and failure modes of both metallic and composite materials.
Certification: Solid knowledge of Structural Certification Processes and airworthiness requirements.
Instrumentation: Expert knowledge of laboratory systems and instrumentation (sensors, sensing technologies, and calibration procedures).
Soft Skills & Leadership:
Ability to lead multi‑program and multidisciplinary activities in a transnational environment. Highly autonomous, structured, and proactive approach to problem‑solving. Excellent organisational and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise with high‑level stakeholders (Airworthiness, Safety, Chief Engineering).
Languages & Additional Requirements: Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in German is considered a significant advantage. Knowledge of Procurement, Finance, Export Control, and Programme Management is a plus.
Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance from the recognized national authorities.
