We are looking for a Laboratory Specialist to join our Quality Control team within our Food Business Unit , based in O’Grove, Spain .
How you make the difference:
This position is key to ensuring the quality, food safety and traceability of our finished products, while ensuring compliance with internal standards, applicable regulations and international certification requirements. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining operational excellence and the trust of our customers and consumers.
How your agenda looks like:
- Ensure traceability and compliance with quality standards by managing technical documentation, certifications and audits, while ensuring the integrity of information in the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Coordinate laboratory activities, overseeing the sampling plan, monitoring analyses, managing product holds and releases, and resolving quality issues.
- Lead and develop the laboratory team by organizing priorities, driving training initiatives, promoting continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of food safety and operational excellence.
- Manage laboratory equipment and resources, coordinating calibrations, maintenance and material purchasing, while ensuring the availability of the resources required for operations.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement projects, shelf‑life studies, document updates and compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
Your team:
- You will report directly to the Quality Control Manager.
- You will work closely with the Production, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, Procurement, Human Resources, HSE and IT teams.
- The role involves the functional coordination of the laboratory team, organizing daily work and supporting the development of team members, although it does not include direct hierarchical management responsibility.
What makes you a great fit:
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science and Technology, or a related field.
- Higher Vocational Training (FP) qualification related to Laboratory, Quality or the Food Industry will also be considered.
Experience
- Previous experience in quality control laboratories or quality assurance departments within the food industry, preferably in the canned fish and seafood sector.
- Experience coordinating teams and managing laboratory processes is needed.
Technical Knowledge
- Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Food legislation, traceability and audits.
- Laboratory analytical techniques.
- SAP and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and food certifications (MSC, HALAL, CRAEGA, BRC and IFS would be a plus).
Languages
- Spanish: Native or bilingual proficiency.
