Quantum Communications & Space Systems Engineer | Quantum Technologies / Satellite Communications / ESA / Optical Systems

We are currently partnered with an innovative space technology organisation developing next-generation quantum communication and optical satellite solutions for secure integral communications. As part of a growing portfolio of European and international programmes, they are looking to hire a Quantum Communications & Space Systems Engineer to support the delivery of cutting‑edge space infrastructure projects while helping transition advanced research into commercially viable products.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the design, development, integration, and delivery of quantum and optical space payloads in collaboration with industry partners
- Support the technical management and execution of European and international space programmes throughout the full project lifecycle
- Coordinate activities with customers, subcontractors, research organisations, satellite operators, system integrators, and industrial partners
- Prepare technical documentation, project deliverables, and engineering reports to meet programme milestones and contractual requirements
- Identify, coordinate, and contribute to new funding opportunities, research proposals, and collaborative project bids

Key requirements

- Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline




- Commercial experience delivering space, satellite, telecommunications, or advanced technology projects
- Experience working on European or national space programmes, ideally involving collaborative R&D; initiatives
- Strong knowledge of quantum communications, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), optical communication systems, or satellite technologies
- Experience managing multidisciplinary technical projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Understanding of systems engineering, technology evaluation, and product development processes
