Team Global Diagnostics Procurement (DOP) is a team of approximately 200 professionals dedicated to sourcing, managing suppliers, and driving category strategies worldwide.
Opportunity As an Associate Category Manager in Sant Cugat, Spain, you will support the development, validation, and execution of global category strategies and annual strategic initiatives. You will leverage rigorous procurement analytics to transform market intelligence into actionable category guidance, ensuring integral supply resilience and portfolio value. The role focuses on strategic enablement, market data intelligence, and stakeholder management across a dedicated procurement category (Biologicals &
- Chemicals, Plastics &
- Packaging, Electronics &
- Systems, Mechanicals, Logistics).
Reporting &
- Stakeholder Engagement Directly reports to the Category Lead within the Category organization.
Collaborates closely with Category Managers, Sourcing Managers, Delivery Managers, Finance, Legal, and external market intelligence providers. Participates in a global ACM Community of Practice coordinated by the Category Integration &
- Excellence Lead.
Responsibilities Collate supplier, market, and internal business data to help formulate the long‑term Category Strategy and build a proactive pipeline of future initiatives.
Support Category Managers, Project Delivery, Delivery, and Sourcing Managers in executing and deploying complex projects in strict compliance with global standards and procedures.
Prepare negotiations and contracting support for strategic, key,
or bottleneck suppliers by delivering comprehensive analytics, fact‑bases, and market benchmarks.
Support selected high‑value strategic sourcing initiatives and complex RFx activities to convert pipeline targets into realized business value.
Collaborate with data analytics experts to generate category‑specific insights, produce monthly spend/savings metrics, and conduct data validation to safeguard governance.
Convert strategic outcomes into clear category guidance documents and support materials to ensure effective implementation across the organisation.
Qualifications University degree (Business or Life Sciences focus preferred).
Professional purchasing certifications (CIPS, PMP, Prince2) or finance‑related licences are highly advantageous.
Minimum of 2 years experience in procurement or supply‑chain, focused on strategic sourcing, enterprise cost reduction, or operational efficiency initiatives.
Demonstrated understanding of major direct spend categories, spend levers, and supply‑market fundamentals.
Strong experience driving insights from large data sets, using Tableau, ThoughtSpot, SAP, Oracle, and eSourcing/eAuction platforms.
Advanced knowledge of AI application and strong affinity to explore AI‑driven solutions in digital transformation of operations (Digital2.0 / Industry4.0).
Excellent communication skills, capable of effective upward management and conflict resolution with a customer‑centric focus.
Travel Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally for supplier and internal network meetings.
