Join to apply for the DevOps Observability Engineer role at Sateliot.

Sateliot is a Barcelona-based startup in the New Space sector, becoming the first satellite telecommunications operator that will provide global and continuous connectivity to all the elements that will make up the massive Internet of Things (IoT) universe under the 5G protocol.

In order to do so, Sateliot is launching a constellation of last generation nanosatellites, located at low altitude that act as mobile towers. Sateliot is the perfect complement for large telecommunications companies by providing them with the necessary infrastructure where terrestrial technologies do not arrive.

YOUR MISSION Your primary mission will be to transform our raw logs and metrics into actionable insights. You will build the systems that ensure the health and performance of our entire ecosystem, from ground infrastructure to our satellite constellation.

This role is a unique launchpad. You will be at the center of our operations, and your work will be fundamental in enabling uninterrupted communication between our satellites and mobile operators (MNOs/MVNOs). We are looking for someone with a foundational knowledge of observability tools and a strong desire to grow into a senior-level engineer.

YOUR MAIN FUNCTIONS

Develop the Observability Systems

Design, implement, and maintain our end-to-end metric, tracing and logging system with the corresponding stack for monitoring and alerting systems using our core stack (OpenSearch, Grafana, Prometheus, Alloy, td-agent…)

Dashboard & Alerting:

Collaborate closely with Space, Ground, and User Segment teams to understand their needs and create meaningful, comprehensive Grafana dashboards.

Data Pipeline Management

Manage the data ingestion pipeline, ensuring logs and metrics from all sources (ground systems, cloud, and satellites) are correctly processed, indexed, and stored in OpenSearch.

Solve Unique Challenges

Develop solutions to address the specific observability challenges of our satellite constellation, such as handling discontinuous or delayed logs and metrics.

Proactive Monitoring

Define and configure a robust, intelligent alerting strategy to detect system anomalies before they impact service.

Documentation

Create and maintain clear documentation for dashboard usage, alert runbooks, and platform architecture. This will be the foundation for our future Network Operations Center (NOC).

Troubleshooting

Help to investigate system performance issues, using the observability tools you build to help pinpoint root causes.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience

1-2 years of hands‑on experience in a DevOps, SRE, Platform, or Observability‑focused role.

Observability Tools

Practical experience with the Grafana stack (Grafana, Prometheus) and AWS Cloudwatch.

Log Management

Hands‑on experience with log aggregation and search tools, preferably OpenSearch or the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).

Data Collectors

Familiarity with data collectors/agents (e.g., Alloy, td‑agent/Fluentd, Promtail, Vector).

Scripting

Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash or Python) for automation and data manipulation.

Operating Systems

Solid understanding of Linux environments.

Core Concepts

A strong grasp of monitoring and observability fundamentals (logs, metrics, traces and the difference between them).

NICE TO HAVE

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

tools like Terraform or Ansible.

Experience with open standards like OpenTelemetry.

Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).

Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts (AWS VPC, security groups, etc.).

Experience in the space or telecommunications industry.
