Engineering Manager – Events

Engineering Manager for Perk's Events team leading a distributed group of experienced engineers, primarily based in the Barcelona hub, to build and evolve the core group booking and events platform.

Responsibilities

Accountable for delivery and personal development of team(s)

Serve as servant leader, adapting style to engineer needs

Coach and mentor for performance and career ownership

Act as technical champion, ensuring team builds systems that meet organization standards

Enable fluent collaboration and support in architecture, design, and implementation challenges

Develop and evolve long‑term strategy and roadmap with Product Manager, aligned with Tribe mission

Strategic team building and planning for highly available, scalable features

Drive recruitment and growth of engineering team

Use business and team metrics to deliver a 7‑star customer experience

Provide feedback to Product, Engineering, and wider business stakeholders

Qualifications

5–8 years managing software engineers (ideally 8–10 engineers)





Technical background as hands‑on software engineer

Experience leading larger teams with process and delegation systems

Strong problem‑solving, both technical and organizational

Conduct effective performance reviews celebrating achievements

Pragmatic, obsessed with simplicity, efficiency, and performance

Adaptable and quick to react to changing environments

Experience or strong interest in modern AI‑augmented workflows, including agentic development

Fluent in English; Spanish or other local languages a benefit The position is on‑site in Barcelona; commuting to the hub is required.

Experience with AI‑augmented workflows is required, and AI tools must be used in coding interviews and day‑to‑day engineering.
