Role Overview The Master Data Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all key data that supports business processes across Supply Chain systems. They act as the guardian of data quality — ensuring that customer, vendor, prices and material master data are created, maintained, and governed according to global standards, while supporting continuous improvement and harmonization initiatives.
This role is a point of contact for master data in a European Market Supply Chain Center Of Excellence and works with global functions and key stakeholders to implement a world-class system and drive continuous improvements.
Responsibilities
Data Creation & Maintenance: Manage master data lifecycle (creation, change, deactivation) for materials, customers, vendors, and prices in ERP systems (SAP, MDG, etc.). Ensure timely and compliant updates following defined data governance rules and in line with the agreed SLA to the business. Ticket administration through a ticket management system.
Ad hoc requests as are required to fulfil the role (eg. GS1, Packaging Reporting).
Data Quality & Governance: Perform regular audits and cleansing activities to maintain data integrity. Monitor data KPIs (accuracy, completeness, duplicates, lead time) and drive corrective actions. Ensure alignment with global data standards, taxonomies, and naming conventions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as single point of contact (SPOC) for global Master Data team and European markets stakeholders. Partner with Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial, and IT to ensure data supports business needs and system integrations.
Process Standardization,
Improvement & Automation: Support the transformation of the Master Data CoE team with European process standardization. Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization and automation (e.g. through workflow tools, or Power BI dashboards). Support integral and regional data harmonization or migration projects.
Work with SAP functional team to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues. Recommend enhancements to SAP master data workflows and configurations. Stay updated on SAP releases, tools, and best practices in master data management.
Documentation & Training: Maintain clear documentation of master data processes and governance rules. Train local users or data owners on correct data entry and governance practices.
Analysis & Reporting: Analyze data trends, identify anomalies, and recommend process improvements. Generate reports and dashboards to support business decisions.
Skills & Experience
Analytical & Detail-Oriented—meticulous with large datasets, strong ability to spot inconsistencies.
Process Discipline—structured and methodical approach to work with adherence to governance.
Systems Expertise—proficiency in ERP (SAP ECC/S4, MDG), strong Excel skills (Power query, Power pivot) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
Collaboration & Communication—ability to engage stakeholders across functions and geographies.
Problem Solving—proactive in identifying root causes and implementing sustainable fixes. Efficiency-driven and process-minded with a continuous improvement approach.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Data Management, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in master data management, preferably within FMCG or manufacturing environments.
Fluent in Spanish, English; additional language (French, Italian, German).
Self-starter who works well under limited direction. Ability to work independently with high degree of initiative and drive.
Experience with SAP Master Data (MM, SD, FI, or MDG) is highly valued.
Strong understanding of business processes — order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, plan-to-produce.
