IQU's R&D; offers extensive know?how in network/RAN virtualization, programmable networks, network slicing, cell?free concepts, artificial intelligence, and the rapidly growing IoT paradigm with many vertical use cases. The organization is active in EU?funded research projects related to 5G, 6G, Smart Grid, and IoT in collaboration with major European vendors and operators.
Job Summary We are looking for researchers in the framework of the ongoing Horizon Europe and SNS?JU projects. The role focuses on the analytical evaluation of proposed solutions and the development of proof?of?concepts on in?house experimentation platforms, contributing to the product portfolio of the R&D; department. A candidate must hold a PhD in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, or Computer Science.
Responsibilities Carry out research activities related to quantum key distribution (QKD) systems and their integration into secure network infrastructures, including the development of quantum networking architectures that combine quantum communication with classical networks. Design AI?driven orchestration mechanisms for quantum networks and contribute to the design of the quantum internet protocol stack.
Work closely with cutting?edge technology validated on in?house experimental platforms.
Engage in challenging 5G/6G and IoT R&D; projects and represent the company at project meetings and research initiatives. Participate in the preparation of research funding proposals. Attend scientific conferences and represent IQU at exhibitions such as Mobile World Congress Forum, IoT Solutions World Congress, and Smart Cities Expo.
Requirements Basic Qualifications: Outstanding oral and written English skills. Good knowledge of current technology trends related to quantum communication, network protocol design, distributed systems, digital twins for quantum networks, and QKD protocols. Familiarity with quantum networking simulators. Good publication record in scientific peer?reviewed journals.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in EU?funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, SNS JU, Quantum). Familiarity with 6G architectures and the integration of quantum technologies into future networks. Knowledge of post?quantum cryptography and hybrid security frameworks.
Experience in participating in international research funding projects.
Benefits Full?time contract with a probation period of 6 months; starting date flexible from September to October . Office located in the center of Barcelona with an open?space environment that promotes creativity, innovation, and collaborative research; option to work from home with occasional onsite meetings. Competitive salary ranging from €35,000 to €42,000, determined by qualifications and experience.
