Postdoctoral Researcher – Biomedical Genomics Lab
IRB Barcelona is seeking a talented and motivated
Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Biomedical Genomics Lab led by Dr. Núria López‑Bigas. The role involves applying machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to cancer genome projects, aiming to understand mutational processes and mechanisms underlying driver mutations affecting cancer genes. Key Responsibilities
Independently design and test computational genomics analyses, interpret and discuss results. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team and external collaborators. Contribute to a culture of scientific excellence, efficiency, and teamwork. Assist with other lab projects and maintain protocols and laboratory resources. Critically analyze analytical results, participate in scientific discussions and prepare scientific communication (seminars, conferences).
Participate in project activities: meetings, presentations, lab visits, data set exchanges, and prepare project reports/deliverables. Perform excellent research according to the high standards of the lab and IRB Barcelona. Qualifications
PhD in Biomedicine, Biomedical Informatics, or related field. MSci in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or similar.
Experience in cancer genomics. Hands‑on experience with machine learning and large language model‑based agentic systems. Deep expertise with programming languages such as Python or R. Demonstrated ability to design and conduct computational analyses independently. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in English (written and spoken). Highly motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative. Willing to keep learning. Ability to work independently in a demanding research environment.
