Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) Development Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will work at the intersection of device physics, materials science, and advanced manufacturing, developing key building blocks for our photonic systems. What You’ll Do
As an SOA Development Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of semiconductor optical amplifiers for scalable photonic systems.
Your responsibilities will include: Designing and optimizing epitaxial layer stacks to achieve target device performance. Performing device simulation and modeling to predict and improve behavior.
Applying
Design for Manufacturability (DfM) principles to ensure scalable, high-yield solutions. Collaborating on Design for Testing (DfT), defining test strategies and analyzing measurement data. Developing and executing test and characterization routines for fabricated devices. Analyzing experimental data and translating results into design improvements. Interfacing with suppliers and foundries to define specifications and support process development. Collaborating with system, packaging, and photonic integration teams. Maintaining clear documentation of designs, simulations, and processes. What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
PhD in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics,
Materials Science, or related field with 3+ years of industry experience, or MSc with 5+ years. Strong experience working with III-V devices such as optical amplifiers or lasers. Technical Expertise
Deep understanding of semiconductor physics and epitaxial design. Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes. Experience with simulation tools such as PhotonDesign Harold, NextNano, Lumerical MQW, Simulase or similar. Hands-on lab experience with characterization of III-V devices. Experience with DfM and DfT methodologies. Strong data analysis skills and ability to work with large datasets. Nice to Have
Experience with epitaxial growth. Experience working with foundries or fabrication teams. Mask design and tape-out experience. Familiarity with reliability testing. Soft Skills
