About The Company

Bluetile is a vibrant fast-growing gaming studio with an eye on the future. Our mission is to build fun and relaxing games meant to last, and we do that by bringing together a team of experts who love what they do. Our talented designers, artists, engineers, marketeers and analysts have created several games delivering joy and entertainment to over 20M users across more than 12 languages and 90 countries.

About The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll build the reliable, scalable data systems that power decision-making across the company. This is a hybrid role: around half the work is core data engineering (pipelines, orchestration, ingestion, infrastructure, reliability, performance), and the other half is analytics engineering (clean dbt models, trusted datasets, data quality, making data easy to use).

You'll own problems across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion and orchestration to warehouse design, dbt models, and analytics-ready datasets, working with event- and user-level data, cohort and retention tables, revenue and acquisition metrics, and third-party sources. You should be as comfortable debugging a production pipeline or optimizing a large warehouse table as clarifying a metric definition or helping an analyst understand where a number comes from.

We're looking for someone who cares about reliability, simplicity, and business impact, who has battle-tested their systems in high-volume production environments, and who can turn messy requirements into clean, maintainable data assets that others can trust.

Key Responsibilities

Core Data Engineering (40%)

- Build and maintain production data pipelines for product, marketing, monetization, finance, and operational data.
- Design reliable ingestion workflows from APIs, cloud services, application data, and advertising, attribution, and analytics platforms.
- Maintain orchestration workflows using tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
- Optimize warehouse performance and cost: partitioning, clustering,

incremental models, and query efficiency.

Analytics Engineering & Data Modelling (40%)
- Build and maintain data models in dbt, designing clean, scalable datasets for analysts, product, marketing, and business stakeholders.
- Help define modelling standards, naming conventions, and metric definitions the whole company can trust.
- Support BI and reporting layers using Looker and Lightdash.

Data Quality, Reliability & Observability (10%)
- Improve reliability, observability, testing, alerting, documentation, and ownership.
- Investigate data discrepancies, pipeline failures, freshness issues, and performance bottlenecks.

Collaboration & Standards (10%)
- Work closely with analysts, analytics engineers, product managers, marketing teams, and engineers to keep the platform robust and easy to use.
- Review code, raise SQL and Python quality, and help the team work effectively with Git-based workflows.
- Contribute to the evolution of our modern data platform.

Requirements

- 5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar data platform roles.
- Strong experience building and maintaining production data pipelines.
- Expert-level SQL with large analytical datasets, and strong Python for data workflows, automation, APIs, and pipeline development.
- Experience with a modern data platform: Git, cloud data warehouses (BigQuery or Snowflake), orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or similar), and BI/reporting tools.
- Production experience with dbt and solid understanding of data modelling: dimensional models, marts, intermediate models, and metric definitions.

- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently in a low-meeting, high-autonomy environment.
- Experience working with AI coding agents, AI-assisted development workflows, or code harnesses for automation, debugging, testing, or productivity.

Nice to have

- Previous experience in the gaming industry or a high-volume digital product environment, where event data, user behavior, monetization, acquisition, retention, and experimentation are core to the business.
- Experience with GCP, especially BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Composer, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, or Dataflow.
- Experience with Firebase, GA4, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Singular, AppLovin, Meta Ads, Google Ads, or similar product, attribution, and marketing data sources.
- Experience with streaming or near-real-time data pipelines.
- Experience with data observability, data quality frameworks, freshness monitoring, lineage, or anomaly detection.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, code review practices, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience with Looker or Lightdash.
- Experience with privacy, GDPR, data retention, or PII handling.
- Experience designing cost-efficient data systems in the cloud.

What We Offer

- The Role: Own key parts of the data platform from ingestion to analytics-ready datasets, with full autonomy. Join a meetingless company, no status updates, no sync calls, just deep work and results.
- Location & Flexibility: Based in Barcelona. The data team comes in regularly because they want to, not because they have to.
- Compensation & Perks: Competitive compensation based on experience, phantom stocks, health insurance, ticket restaurant, unlimited vacations, regular company off-sites.
- The Challenge: 15 games in market + ambitious pipeline. Industry inflection point with AI and automation. Profit-backed studio with no VC pressure and resources to do it right.
