Overview CIDETEC Energy Storage is looking for a researcher to join our Energy Materials Unit. The role involves managing battery technology projects from chemistry to application, with a focus on technology transfer to industry.
Responsibilities
Define and execute a research work plan independently.
Develop, characterize and optimize solid‑state batteries to meet project KPIs, including failure and post‑mortem analysis.
Investigate the physical‑chemical and electrochemical properties of solid electrolytes, electrodes, and cell components.
Manage laboratory staff and coordinate project activities.
Analyze data and interpret results.
Write project proposals, technical reports, patent applications, conference abstracts, and scientific manuscripts.
Assist in technology transfer and scale‑up of developed materials.
Conduct literature and patent searches to identify new materials, technologies, and processes.
Requirements
PhD in Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, or Material Science.
Excellent knowledge of technical electrochemistry, advanced batteries, and materials science.
3+ years of direct experience in lithium‑battery R&D; (SSB, Li‑ion, Li‑metal, etc.).
Experience conceptualizing R&D; activities in cell development and characterization.
Hands‑on expertise in assembly, manipulation, and testing of coin and pouch cells.
Hands‑on experience in synthesis and processing of composites, sulfides, and halides.
Proficiency with electrochemical tests (EIS, CV, galvanostatic cycling, etc.) and physical‑chemical analyses (FE‑SEM, XRD, FTIR, XPS, etc.).
Qualifications
Highly motivated, with a keen interest in research and innovation.
Ability to organize work to meet deadlines and objectives.
Strong problem‑solving skills and scientific rigor.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Placement abroad and more than 3 years of work experience is a plus.
