Responsibilities

Driving strategy, culture and ways of working for the Software Development department in Research and Development

Directly influencing Roche Diagnostics’ capabilities in Software Development in the field of analytics/pre‑analytics

Maintaining and further evolving the Sub Chapter’s expertise within the cross‑functional network of related functions (e.g., LCT), based on current and upcoming needs to deliver on network priorities

Developing the capabilities of experts specialized in Software Development, including translating patient and customer needs into product design, implementing IVD requirements, driving product care solutions and supporting the overall life cycle of commercialized products

Software development capabilities typically comprise:

Requirements specification and review at the instrument and unit level

Delivery of software architecture and development activities at the instrument and unit level

Design, specification, development, test and transfer to operations of all software components

Third‑level support for customer inquiries





Providing effective and inspirational leadership for the department, by coaching and actively liaising within the network

Supporting the implementation of R&D;’s short‑term to mid‑term strategy for products and solutions in the field of analytics/pre‑analytics

Enabling a network of experts to directly influence and maintain the quality and sustainability of product design for the respective portfolio

Qualifications

Completed Master’s degree (technical or scientific) with 7–10 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 8–10 years of experience in the medical device industry, or equivalent vocational qualification with 10 years of relevant experience

Deep specialized knowledge and solid background in software engineering

Proven track record of independently leading, motivating, and developing larger teams of specialists and managers

Strategic development of the organization and empowerment of employees to drive their own professional growth

High proficiency in agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Sprints, retrospectives) with a systemic mindset

Experience guiding transformations and implementing effective solutions to problems

High level of English proficiency
