Research Associate / Platform Technician
ALLOX is a spin‑off of the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) focused on advanced allosteric mapping to drive drug discovery and biotechnology innovations. The role is based in Barcelona, Spain and must start in September 2026.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead development and maintenance of the ALLOX experimental allosteric mapping platform.
- Select, prioritise and experimentally validate new therapeutically relevant targets for the platform.
- Anise interaction with the computational team to integrate bioinformatic tools into daily wet‑lab workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biological Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of full‑time wet‑lab experience (industry or academia).
- Proficiency in PCR, plasmid cloning, primer and plasmid design, DNA extraction, purification, and quantification.
- Hands‑on experience with microbiology transformation, cell culture, and handling.
- Quick learner of new methods and approaches.
- Strong teamwork and collaborative attitude.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities while delivering high‑quality results on time.
- Excellent organisational and record‑keeping skills.
- Fluent in English.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the biotechnology industry.
- Experience with Illumina/Nanopore sequencing protocols.
- Experience with Saccharomyces cerevisiae handling and culture.
- Experience with liquid handling, automation, and robotics.
- Familiarity with the Benchling laboratory information management system.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Catalan.
Compensation & Benefits
Yearly base salary between €28,000 and €35,000, plus an annual performance bonus plan and an early‑stage equity package.
