HVAC Designer
Job Responsibilities
- Undertake the design of HVAC systems for various building types (offices, commercial, hotels, residential): heating/cooling sources, hydronic systems, air handling and distribution, ventilation, and smoke extraction.
- Perform load calculations and energy efficiency checks strictly in accordance with RITE (Regulation of Thermal Installations in Buildings) and CTE DB HE (Energy Saving section), and compile energy performance reports.
- Select equipment (chillers, heat pumps, boilers, AHUs, fan coil units, etc.) and produce water system schematics, ductwork layouts, and plant room details.
- Use 3D design tools to coordinate services and communicate requirements (shafts, louvres, equipment foundations) to architectural and structural disciplines.
- Write HVAC technical specifications and participate in equipment tendering and technical bid evaluations.
- During construction, review contractor’s shop drawings and material submittals, and handle on-site commissioning and acceptance issues.
Job Requirements
- Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, with a specialisation in HVAC.
- Experience: 5+ years of local HVAC design experience in Spain; thorough knowledge of RITE and the energy efficiency clauses of CTE.
- Software: Proficient in CYPE HVAC or similar load and system calculation tools; highly skilled in Revit MEP and AutoCAD. Experience with HAP or E20 is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Able to independently perform cooling/heating load and hydraulic calculations; familiar with VRF, underfloor heating, chilled ceilings, etc. Knowledge of green certifications (LEED, BREEAM) is an advantage.
- Skills: Possess valid structural design qualification certificate; able to independently complete discipline-specific design complying with European standards, and support BP submission and final project acceptance inspection.
- Language: Fluent Spanish is esse
