Pennylane builds the financial operating system (OS) for European SMEs, providing a single source of truth for financial data used by entrepreneurs, accountants, and third‑party service providers.
Team & Context
Pennylane’s tech team is made up of more than 35 squads. Each squad is led by an Engineering Manager working with a Product Manager and a Product Designer, and consists of 5‑8 developers (Frontend, Backend, Full Stack). The company is remote‑first, but the headquarters are in Paris and the team meets in Paris a few days every two months.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a squad of 5‑8 Software Engineers.
- Balance individual contribution with management responsibilities, tailored to expectations.
- Collaborate with product managers to maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and a positive team culture.
- Identify each developer’s key strengths and improvement areas to foster growth.




- Partner with other Senior Engineering Managers and Engineering Managers to refine processes as the team scales.

Qualifications
- Minimum 5years of software development experience, preferably with Ruby on Rails or React.js (technical expertise may vary).
- Strong technical, business, and product acumen.
- Proven management experience.
- Team‑player mindset with experience in agile environments.
- Empathy for users and a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly.
