Postdoctoral Researcher – Chromatin Biology Laboratory The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a comprehensive cancer research center dedicated to the study of leukaemia and other hematologic malignancies. We are seeking a
Postdoctoral Researcher for the Chromatin Biology Laboratory led by Dr. Alejandro Vaquero.
RESEARCH DESCRIPTION The Chromatin Biology Laboratory focuses on the role of the Sirtuin family of enzymes in regulating genome stability and epigenetics under stress conditions, and their impact on cancer, senescence, and aging.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will explore the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms controlling the SIRT7/PAX5 interplay in B-cell differentiation and B‑Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B‑ALL). The project utilizes a multidisciplinary approach, combining molecular and cellular biology techniques with genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics in mouse models and patient‑derived leukemia models.
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Biology, Biomedicine, Medicine, or a related discipline.
Strong interest in cancer biology, especially the mechanisms underlying stress response, hematological malignancies, and immune regulation.
Demonstrated experience with mouse models (essential), preferably in leukemia and/or sirtuin biology.
Expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including protein biochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry (FACS), and experience with proteomic and genomic approaches (essential).
Previous experience in stress response pathways and/or sirtuin biology is highly desirable.
Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Excellent written and spoken English.
BENEFITS
3‑year full‑time postdoctoral contract with potential one‑year extension following a positive evaluation.
Full‑time contract (39 hours/week).
Highly competitive salary.
Exciting multidisciplinary research project with strong potential to advance B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment.
Collaboration with world leaders in clinical and pre‑clinical B‑ALL research and drug discovery.
Opportunity to work in the outstanding multidisciplinary environment of the IJC.
Stimulation of the Barcelona metropolitan area environment.
DEADLINE Please submit your application by July 22nd, 2026.
