As an R&D; Control Engineer , you will play a key role in the development, validation, and commissioning of advanced control solutions for power converters and energy storage systems. You will work at the forefront of renewable energies, contributing to grid-forming and grid-following technologies that enable stable, reliable, and sustainable electrical networks with high renewable penetration.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly technical, international environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and contributing directly to innovative solutions for the energy transition.
How you’ll make an impact
- Hybridisation of renewable energy generation sources: sizing, optimisation, and energy balancing of microgrids to meet load requirements, integrating generation and storage elements with high renewable penetration.
- Study system stability and response to electrical transients, including symmetrical and asymmetrical faults, voltage dips, frequency disturbances, and power oscillation damping (POD).
- System modelling of renewable generation plants,
electrical machines, conventional generators, and related components.
- Perform grid code compliance analysis for generation facilities and systems.
- Develop proof-of-concepts and validate functionalities of control systems.
- Simulate, test, and debug control algorithms for power systems and power converters.
- Provide technical support to other teams and departments.
- Prepare clear and structured technical documentation for projects and engineering studies.
- Perform commissioning tasks for power conversion and control systems interfacing with energy storage systems in the laboratory.
- Conduct technical analysis of logs, errors, signals, and metrics, generating reusable reports to support engineering, quality assurance, and certification processes.
Your background
- BSc or MSc degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical field (minimum requirement).
- Strong knowledge of frequency and
