Position Summary The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as:
CSci 1 (Critical Thinking and Computer Science)
CSci 39 (Computer Science Principles)
CSci 40 (Introduction to Programming and Problem Solving)
CSci 41 (Introduction to Data Structures)
CSci 60 (Foundations of Computer Science)
CSci 80 (Introduction to Computer Systems)
Other classes identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students
Instructor Responsibilities
Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies per Academic Policy Manual 306.
Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, midterm and final exams.
Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Conditional Appointment
Appointments are contingent on budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement.
New lecturer appointees are assigned after senior faculty.
Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
California State University, Fresno does not sponsor Temporary Faculty for work visas.
Compensation
Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range.
Salaries are based on the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = ****).
For a full?time load (15 WTUs), the monthly range for a Master's degree holder is $5,507–$6,677, with starting salaries usually at or near the minimum.
Adjustments are made based on WTUs assigned per term.
Anticipated Semester
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed.
The pool is available for two academic terms; applicants wishing to remain beyond that must reapply.
Fall ****: August 19, **** – December 22, ****
Spring ****: January 15, **** – May 26, ****
Required Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Computer Science from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Expertise in a closely related science or mathematics discipline.
