Overview The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is seeking two Junior Group Leader positions, one in AI and Data Science for Bioengineering (UB) and one in Translational Pediatric Bioengineering (HSJD).
These tenure?eligible roles aim to advance IBEC's strategy of excellent science, internationalisation, translation, and talent development.
Responsibilities
Develop an ambitious research programme in the chosen focus area.
Establish and lead a research group, securing and coordinating competitive grant funding as Principal Investigator.
Contribute to IBEC's strategic goals through international collaboration and translation of research.
For the UB position, provide part?time teaching at the UB School of Medicine and engage students in research activities.
Demonstrate leadership, strategic vision, communication and networking skills.
Candidate profile
PhD obtained at least 5 years ago.
Extensive expertise and an outstanding publication record in the specific scientific area.
Proven record of securing and coordinating competitive research grants as Principal Investigator.
More than 3 years of professional activity abroad.
Leadership, people?management, strategic planning, income and funding generation, knowledge transfer, collaboration, inclusion, and excellent communication skills.

Selection Process
Stage I – Remote evaluation of applications by interdisciplinary panels.
Stage II – Remote interviews of shortlisted candidates.
Stage III – Final interview in Barcelona with the Selection Committee and site visit.
Decision based on research achievements, quality, proposed approach, expected impact, future research plans and leadership potential.
