Senior Underwriter Marine Cargo Madrid, España AXA XL’s Marine & Aviation Underwriting Team provides insurance solutions for large and corporate clients worldwide, covering marine cargo, project cargo, freight forwarder liability, shipper’s interest, general aviation, and airport liability. What you’ll be doing Essential responsibilities include: Reviewing submissions, including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, and conducting appropriate research to determine the degree of risk for each account. Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, underwriting, and general administration costs while ensuring profitability. Proactively advising, assisting, servicing, and following up with brokers/clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements. Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for cross‑selling offered products and ensuring account retention. Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards. Supporting the business planning and forecasting process;
monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits;
monitoring premium income to stay within set limits.



Maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims. You will report to the Marine & Aviation Manager, Iberia. What you’ll bring University degree;
knowledge of the maritime industry is highly considered. Knowledge of insurance industry fundamentals and proven experience in marine/cargo underwriting activities. Proficiency in English and Spanish is required;
other languages are a plus. Knowledge and use of selling and negotiation techniques;
ability to adapt to thecustomer’s situation, needs, and behavior. Analytical thinking;
ability to perform fact‑ and data‑based analysis and make swift, efficient decisions. Teamwork skills;
ability to work with colleagues of different seniority and expertise to achieve collective goals. Flexibility and innovation;
