Job Description
What you’ll do
We are looking for a Head Steward to join the opening team at SLS Barcelona. Under the guidance of the Director of Food & Beverage, the Head Steward will control the inventory of all equipment, china, cutlery, and glassware as well as manage the stewarding team to ensure a clean and safe working environment for the Restaurants and Kitchen team.
- Orders and manages necessary supplies, ensuring workers have supplies, equipment, tools, and uniforms necessary to do their jobs.
- Monitors the inflow of ordered materials and the maintenance of current materials.
- Conducts china, glass and silver inventories.
- Controls inventories of food, equipment, smallware, and liquor, and reports shortages to designated personnel.
- Inspects supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.
- Manages all equipment, china and glass.
- Enforces proper cleaning routines for equipment, floors, tools, etc.
- Enforces proper use and cleaning of all dish room machinery.
- Ensures all food holding and transport equipment is in working order.
- Ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as Chief Steward in a high‑volume hotel/restaurant.
- Strong team leader, skilled at managing and inspiring others to achieve their best.
- Analytical and methodical thinking with high attention to detail and a solution‑focused approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in Spanish.
- Solid understanding of local legal compliance requirements.
- Creates a positive impact and makes people feel good—team, guests, and colleagues alike.
- Excellent relationship builder, confident in working with other teams and leaders; passionate about collective achievements.
- Takes ownership of important issues, solves problems, and makes effective decisions.
