The Role
The CFO will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for shaping the financial strategy, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting the company through accelerated growth. This is a unique opportunity to build a finance function entirely from scratch , implement scalable systems, and lead future equity and debt fundraising .
You will act as a strategic partner to the CEO, board, investors, and operational leaders, enabling data‑driven decision‑making while providing strong financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute the company’s long‑term financial strategy aligned with rapid growth and international expansion.
Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and board, contributing to strategic planning, scenario modelling, and commercial decision‑making.
Implement financial frameworks, KPIs, and performance dashboards to ensure clear visibility over business performance.
Lead all aspects of equity and debt fundraising , including investor targeting, due diligence preparation, financial modelling, and negotiation.
Manage relationships with current and future investors, presenting financial insights with clarity and commercial credibility.
Prepare investor‑ready materials: board packs, fundraising presentations, and strategic financial analyses.
Build the Finance Function
Fully establish the finance function from the ground up , including setting up financial systems, processes, controls, and reporting structures.
Recruit, mentor, and develop a future finance team as the business scales.
Implement scalable financial tools (ERP, billing, forecasting, budgeting, cash management).
Financial Operations & Controls
Oversee budgeting, planning,
forecasting and cashflow management, ensuring robust liquidity planning in a high‑growth environment.
Put in place rigorous financial controls, audit readiness, and compliance frameworks suitable for a venture‑backed company preparing for future exits.
Own monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insight.
Commercial & Operational Finance
Partner closely with operations, product, commercial and engineering leaders to evaluate contracts, pricing models, cost structures, and growth investments.
Develop commercial frameworks for new business lines, capital deployment, supply chain, and energy‑sector financial modelling.
Support strategic partnerships, client negotiations, and market expansion decisions.
Regulatory & Market Compliance
Ensure financial compliance with Spanish and European regulatory requirements.
Manage tax, audit, grants, and any government funding processes (where relevant to the energy sector).
Experience & Background
Proven experience as a CFO or Senior Finance Leader (e.g., VP Finance, Finance Director) within a high‑growth start‑up/scale‑up , ideally within energy, cleantech, deep‑tech, hardware, or infrastructure‑heavy sectors .
Significant, hands‑on experience raising equity and debt from VCs, institutional investors, strategic investors, or project finance lenders.
Demonstrable track record of building a finance function from the ground up , including systems, processes, controls, and team structure.
Strong background in financial modelling, scenario analysis, and board‑level reporting.
Experience operating in Spain or wider European markets, with understanding of relevant financial and regulatory environments.
Fluent in English; Spanish language skills desirable but not essential.

Experience: 5+ years in Regulatory Affairs within biotech/biopharma

Key Responsibilities
Monitor changes in the regulatory landscape, identify their impact, and propose solutions to maintain compliance.
Define regulatory strategy for each product in coordination with Management and Business teams.
Build strong collaborative partnerships with internal and external teams to ensure organizational success and patient safety.
Identify and mitigate regulatory risks, adapting strategies to evolving regulations and Health Authority feedback.
Interpret and communicate legislative changes that affect product registration, manufacturing, or development.
Support the review of license and quality agreements for targeted geographies.
Lead engagement with Health Authorities during Scientific Advice procedures and responses to deficiency letters.
Prepare, review, and approve regulatory submission documents (briefing packages, IBs, INDs, CTAs, MAAs, etc.).
Manage external consultants and vendors for regulatory activities.
Support product launch activities, ensuring regulatory risks are managed with appropriate action plans.
Organize the regulatory submission schedule and coordinate with Regulatory Affairs teams.
Participate in product plan development, regulatory strategy, and CMC documentation.
Drive digitalization and the use of computerized systems within the department.
