Are you passionate about empowering people with data and shaping modern self‑service analytics? Do you enjoy working where technology, product thinking, and user enablement come together? Then our Analytics Engineering & Self‑Service team wants to hear from you. We are a driven and collaborative group responsible for building the foundations, governance, and tools that enable SIX BFI to become a truly data‑empowered organization.
In this role, you will lead the evolution of our self‑service ecosystem while coaching a small team and partnering closely with business stakeholders and platform engineering. Your mission is to scale autonomy, strengthen data literacy, and ensure that users across the organization can explore, analyze, and act on data with confidence.
What You Will Do
- Shape and Evolve the Self‑Service Operating Model: Drive a decentralized analytics approach that boosts autonomy for end users, defining clear ownership boundaries and ensuring scalable, efficient ways of working across teams.
- Lead User Enablement Strategy: Define the strategy for ongoing training, documentation, and enablement programs—leveraging your own team and indirect contributors to deliver high‑impact sessions on Azure, Databricks, Power BI, and related tools.
- Act as a Platform and Data Expert: Develop deep expertise in SIX BFI’s data assets and analytics platforms, guiding users, answering complex questions, and helping teams get the most value from available tooling.
- Engage and Support Stakeholders:
Serve as the primary partner for business stakeholders—gathering needs, offering hands‑on support, and ensuring feedback directly shapes platform improvements and user experience.
- Lead and Develop the Team: Mentor a small team of analytics engineers and specialists, set execution priorities, and ensure the team focuses on high‑value projects while maintaining responsive user support.
What You Bring
- Leadership Experience: 5+ years in data/analytics roles and at least 1 year managing people in a data-focused environment, balancing strategy with hands‑on execution.
- Education: A degree in a relevant field (Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or similar) is welcome, but equivalent hands‑on experience in analytics leadership is equally valued.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands‑on experience with Databricks, Spark, Python, SQL, dbt, and BI tools (such as Power BI), with the ability to coach users and guide platform adoption.
- Governance & Operating Model Insight: Experience defining ownership boundaries, establishing ways of working across teams, and aligning decentralized analytics practices with organizational goals.
- Communication & Stakeholder Skills: Ability to translate complex data concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences, build trusted relationships, and tactically guide users across multiple departments.
- Domain Awareness & Language Skills: Financial data understanding is a plus, English fluency is required, and experience navigating multinational environments is beneficial.
