This position may be scheduled for 8.75 hours/day, 4 days/week, 148 days/year, OR 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 180 days/year. Schedule will be determined by business need at hire.

Purpose Statement
The job of Speech Language Pathology Assistant - Certified (SLPA-C) is done for the purpose of planning and providing treatment interventions under the supervision of an SLP; and assisting students with development of expressive, receptive communication skills, language articulation, etc.
This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Per the essential functions and educational requirements listed below.
This job reports to Senior Director - Special Education Cooperative or Designee.
Essential Functions
Administers Standardized Screening Tests Under direct supervision, administers standardized screening tests (e.g. adaptive equipment usage, communication assessment, etc.) for the purpose of identifying speech and language deficits then determining the needs of individual students.
Attends Required Meetings Attends various meetings as may be required (e.g. workshops, in-service training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and providing information.
Develops Treatment Processes Develops treatment processes (e.g. treatment plans, interventions, instruction, evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of providing effective programs for remediating students' communication skill deficits while complying with state and federal regulations.
Maintains Files and Records Maintains files and records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference trail for compliance with established regulations.
Performs Site Visits Performs site visits at multiple work sites for the purpose of providing therapy and assistance as required.
Prepares Materials Prepares materials needed for student therapy sessions for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference,
and conveying necessary instructional information.
Provides Training and Instruction Provides training and instruction to teachers (e.g. use of assistive devices, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe use of devices and optimal achievement of benefits.
Responds to Inquiries Responds to inquiries from a variety of stakeholders (e.g. parents, teachers, staff, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, and referral as appropriate.
Schedules Therapy and Screenings Schedules therapy and screenings for the purpose of providing screening or instruction as prescribed by an SLP.
Marginal Functions
Assists Other Personnel Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work.
Performs Other Related Duties Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skills Required SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; applying assessment instruments; operating equipment used in speech and language therapy; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge Required KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adaptive equipment; speech and language therapy models, practices and theories; and general knowledge of SLP.
Abilities Required ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; projecting a professional image; and solving problems and exercising good judgment when dealing with students, parents and coworkers.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization's services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 30% walking, and 50% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field is required.
