EarthWork Seeds (EWS), part of the Gowan Group, is a vegetable germplasm development company headquartered in Davis, California, one of the world’s leading hubs for vegetable seed innovation. Our breeder scientists focus on improving yield, quality, disease resistance, and adaptability across diverse growing regions, with particular emphasis on solanaceous and cucurbit crops. EarthWork Seeds operates through a global network of distributors and strategic partners in major vegetable seed markets.

To support continued international growth, EarthWork Seeds is seeking an EMEA Area Sales Manager to lead and expand commercial activities across the region, with a primary focus on Spain, Italy, and France. This position reports directly to the EarthWork Seeds Director.

Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Leadership

- Develop and execute the EMEA mid-term strategic business plan, aligned with company objectives and long-term growth targets.
- Build, manage, and adapt annual sales plans for B2B and retail customers, including sales targets, KPIs, and crop marketing actions.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth through value-based selling and long-term customer partnerships.

Product Portfolio & Market Development

- Coordinate new variety launches and manage the regional product portfolio.
- Conduct in-depth market, pricing, and competitive analysis to strengthen market positioning and increase share.




- Lead product advancement meetings and support EMEA S&OP; processes.
- Partner with R&D; and Marketing teams by providing insights on growers, consumers, and market trends to support crop strategy and innovation.

Customer & Distributor Management

- Serve as the primary commercial contact for key B2B customers, distributors, and top retailers across the EMEA region.
- Negotiate contracts, manage commercial and technical discussions, and resolve claims.
- Lead turnkey projects and customized solutions for strategic customers.

Cross-Functional & External Engagement

- Collaborate closely with crop teams to align on crop strategies and execute regional marketing and business plans.
- Support varietal evaluation and introduction of new products in target markets.
- Represent EarthWork Seeds at industry forums, including ISF and Euroseeds, to strengthen the company’s network and market presence.
- Identify and propose external growth opportunities, including potential acquisitions in strategic markets.

Travel

Travel approximately 40% or more, primarily across Spain, France, Italy, Morocco, South Africa, Turkey, and the USA.

Qualifications & Experience

- Master’s degree in Agricultural Business or a related field.
- 8 + years of commercial experience in the vegetable seeds industry & international environment
- Strong knowledge of the vegetable seeds market, including solid agronomic expertise.
- Proven success in negotiation, value-based selling, and deal closing.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and accountability.
- Fluency in English is required; bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Strong project management skills; formal project management experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Established relationships with key retailers and B2B partners in the region.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of CRM systems.
