Government Affairs Manager – Europe Location: Frankfurt, Germany Global Government Affairs are responsible for our interface and representation with governments; government engagement supporting business development and advancement of medical technology; management of public policy issues; political risk; and our Economic Development work, i.e., securing and managing funding from various governments. The role is critical to the delivery of the Group strategy in the European region, which is one of our most important regions of operation globally. This role is truly strategic and a great opportunity to shape and influence the political debate on issues that are pivotal to the Group’s future.

This role is in our Global Government Affairs team, managing the Group's interface with the various European Governments and Parliaments, as well as the EU Government, reporting to the Director, Government Affairs, based in our Head office in China. As a well versus Government Relationships expert, you will play a leadership role in the team, with responsibility for: Horizon scanning, monitoring, analysing, and managing public policy issues impacting Mindray, developing company positions, briefing senior colleagues on issues, and devising, managing, and successfully delivering advocacy plans with a wide range of external stakeholders. Developing government affairs campaigns in support of business development opportunities where the Government is a customer or route to market. Understand EU health fund work mechanism, monitor the health fund flow, resources, use of the fund etc. Establish solid working relationships with major European government agencies/stakeholders, the European Union and related health organizations and national institutions, including regulatory agencies, China embassies in EU local countries, key industry associations etc., to ensure effective and timely support from them. Defining the European CSR strategic plan and executing the local CSR activities Managing key relationships with various Parliaments and Governments, and delivery of senior stakeholder engagement events. Building strong internal networks to ensure awareness of relevant business development and public policy developments. Representing the company externally, including trade associations and industry bodies. Key Skills & Experience: Excellent working knowledge of various European Parliamentary procedures and the legislative process. Experience of working with the European Union, Parliaments or Governments critical. Experience of monitoring, analysing, and managing complex public policy issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce high-quality, accurate written outputs in tight timeframes. Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management skills in a fast-moving environment managing a range of complex issues. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. Sound political judgement, ability to take decisions and take responsibility for their actions. Strong interest in business and experience of commercial aspects of dealing with the Government critical. Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Fluent in written and spoken English Ability to work in Europe without the requirement of company sponsorship What’s in it for you?
