Summary of the Job

The IoT Platform Developer is responsible for the building, operating, and maintaining of the DEKRA IoT platform, its associated .NET applications and IoT data integrations. Including regular consultation with existing business units to improve IoT services that are customer-facing within DEKRA.

The IoT Platform Developer will need to be ‘hands-on’ involved in .NET development as well as managing requirements for a small development team that is anticipated to grow over time as IoT business opportunities develop. The requires familiarity with with Azure Cloud and IoT related technologies, software development practices and tools.

The role reports to the Head of IoT and is part of a global team with colleagues in EMEA, APAC and the Americas regions. As such some after hours work will be required, with flexibility in working hours provided to allow for this. The preferred location for this role is Malaga, Spain.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, build, operation, and maintenance of DEKRA’s global IoT platform and related applications.

• Communicate, promote, and help to develop the strategic direction of DEKRA’s IoT Platform strategy to fit within the broader DEKRA Platform strategy

• Build relationships with IoT groups across the DEKRA organization to support and promote the use of the standard tools and services and alignment with DEKRA’s Digital Platforms Strategy.

• Provide technical leadership and advice in solutions design and evaluation of new IoT initiatives.

• Alignment with DEKRA International development standards, best practice, and methodology within the DEKRA development centres.

• Support business users and groups through the complete IoT device development lifecycle process, from ideation, through development and implementation.

• Develop and maintain standards and requirements for IoT Platform involvement when using IoT within DEKRA.

• Assist with vendor or partner discussions required for Integration with industry partners.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Five or more years’ proven hands on experience with .NET and IoT development in a principle or lead role.

• Experience in a DevOps environment utilizing CI/CD and Azure Cloud Services.

• Experience scalable application deployment and support in a cloud environment.

• Tertiary IT qualification in Computer Science, related discipline or equivalent industry experience required.

• Pragmatic and committed to life-long learning and excellence.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Expert Knowledge of .NET development practices and SDLC

• Agile methods, technology product management and continuous Integration and delivery

• Management of stakeholders, business requirements and outcomes

• Design and build of cloud-delivered device services via Azure experience with a strong emphasis on security, scalability, availability, and reliability.

• Experience designing, supporting, and building scalable applications in a fast-paced environment.
