This position is an excellent fit for someone with a background in psychology (or other related social sciences) who in the future is considering applying to a PhD program, and/or pursuing a career in behavioral research.

The RA would collaborate with two professors in different research projects (detailed below).

Power, Status, Hierarchy

We examine:

- How hierarchy affects individual behaviors and organizations.

- The role of power and status in contributing to and harming trust in individuals and teams.

- Cross-cultural effects of the aforementioned streams of research.

Consumer decision making: Differences between material purchases and experiential purchases

We examine:

- How different types of purchases are processed. For instance, whether experiential purchases (travel, restaurants, movies) are processed more intuitively, or are surrounded by more uncertainty, versus material purchases (cars, clothes, appliances).

- How do consumers process the information and make decisions for one type or purchase versus the other?


Must have’s:

- BS/ BA degree or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Social Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Marketing (or in a related field). Last degree must have been obtained no more than 5 years ago.

- Highly proficient in English (both oral and written)

- Be able to conduct literature searches related to the above topics: identification of articles, summary of key findings, etc.

- Coding: coding of materials or data entry for analysis in studies.

- Work permit for Spain

Desirable to have:

- Theory development: The RA will participate in the elaboration and construction of the theoretical framework of our projects.

- Studies: Designing and running survey studies and experiments (online and “paper and pencil”), exporting data, data analysis, summary of results.

- Statistics: The RA should have knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, or R) and analysis in the social sciences (ANOVAs, regressions, moderated mediation) and, ideally, experience in multi-level modeling.

- Writing: The RA should be capable of writing for academic journals (ideally have previous experience, e.g., writing a re

search thesis).
