Purpose of the role
The primary responsibility of the role is to lead discovery, design, development, sustainment, and maintenance efforts for laboratoryautomation projects. This role will identify opportunities where laboratory automation can be applied for the purposes of system andprocess improvement.
We have the opportunity to fill this position in Bergschenhoek or Wageningen (NL), San Nicolas (ES) or Monheim (DE).
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Solves complex problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning and the application of scientific principles to the designand interpretation of scientific experiments.
- Responsible for protocol development using automation process control applications.
- Develops scripts that integrate automation control software with internal sample tracking databases.
- Accountable for cross-functional work in multiple platforms/process areas
- Research and stay abreast of recent trends and new technology within the automation industry.
- Identify automated solutions that improve quality, throughput and/or decrease cost of lab processes.
- Develop proposals with options for automating processes and gain buy-in from leadership for approval.
- Support controlling cost and schedule on assigned projects, including project budget/schedule estimation and proposal
- Interact with vendors in all engineering design phases and leads in assigned phases from conceptual design through design review,and system integration
- Troubleshoot and solve problems related to operation, configuration, and software integration of automation systems.
- Partner with the internal engineering and software development teams to integrate automation equipment into laboratory processes.
- Identify risks and design for safety. Lead or review (as appropriate) safety reviews and document safety strategies includinginterlocks, alarms, procedures, safety systems, etc.
