WHAT YOU'LL DOAt its core, the GS Munich Business Services Manager (BSM) is accountable for ensuring that the GS Munich office operates efficiently, effectively and at minimal risk; focused on creating a happy, healthy and engaged GS Munich workforce.



This role is accountable for producing a smooth, day-to-day operation focused on service, excellence and business acumen, and to help build and reinforce a positive office culture.



The BSM, as a member of the GS Business Services team, will also coordinate and work in concert with counterparts from other GS hubs to pilot new programs, implement change efforts,

coordinate initiatives and execute and interpret programs and policies related to all local GS Munich staff.Oversee operational infrastructure for the officeResponsible for managing the in-office experience striving to create an efficient, flexible, and service-oriented workspace: order supplies, maintain cleanliness and organization, oversee office layout and security, and ensure that every employee has what they need in order to be successfulWorking closely with local Munich IT, oversee the provision of a reliable and appropriate technology infrastructure: maintain desktop and laptop computers, software, printers, video and telecommunications/phones, etc consistent with other BCG offices and global policy and direction.Support development of real estate strategy and facilities management for the officeWork with GS Business Services Director to identify and execute real estate and space strategy including developing and implementing space plans to anticipate space requirements and evolving needs for officeOversee facilities management including office design, maintenance, layout, and occupancy of offices, furniture, and overall office security and safetyEnsure a safe and appropriate office environment through facilities management including oversight of general maintenance, security, landlord relationships, art collection, maintenance of office space, including office furniture, fixtures and filesResponsible for planning and management of the local Operations budget including CAPEX; cost budgeting and controlling ensuring office operates in an environment of high service and optimized efficiency and cost managementEnsures that local practices comply with BCG policies and local legal requirementsEngagement, and affiliationSet agenda for office events in order to foster an environment of collegiality and cohesiveness. Oversee coordination of all office events from small gatherings (e.g., office lunches) to larger multi-day office wide events (annual retreats and team building events, holiday parties, etc.); Liaise with Munich CT office on events, as applicableSet agenda and conduct staff meetings, as appropriate; often times cascading GS global messagesProvide thought leadership on developing and implementing initiatives to drive employee engagement and supporting the company's cultureAssist with/manage local GS employee communicationsRepresent office on the GS Business Services Leadership team and actively support GS regional and global initiativesSupport regional initiatives designed to improve overall performanceActs as liaison to the GS Business Services team to cooperate in the development and implementation of regional and/or global policiesParticipate in regional projects as member of the GS Business Services TeamRisk ManagementIdentify and mitigate risks across the officeWork with GS Business Director to embed risk management into the operationEnsure GS Munich has an up to date business continuity plan and implements and regularly tests an emergency tracking system and evacuation protocolsEnsure compliance with local regulatory requirementsYOU'RE GOOD ATDelivering top notch business operationsAble to prioritize among demands and balance the levers that make a complex business run smoothly and productivelyIntegrate broad knowledge base beyond own function (BCG strategy, objectives, structures, processes and other functions)Problem solving and decision makingStrong proactive and reactive decision-making skillsResolve complex issues/problems independently, but knows when to seek advice and counsel for decisions including key stakeholders where appropriateDemonstrate strong analytic and big picture capabilities in problem solving approachesCommunication and teamingA motivator and team player; charismatic person with strong interpersonal skillsAdvanced communication skills: oral, written and active listeningAbility to communicate precisely and succinctly in English (oral and written)Anticipates and resolves conflicting differences by seeking collaborative approaches and by pursuing agreeable solutionsAble to work effectively in a complex, truly global environmentIntuitive about people.
