Hej! My name is José Carlos and I am privileged to lead the global engineering teams in charge of the digital experience for IKEA Food customers.

This area will be one of the key enablers of the global digital transformation that IKEA is undertaking and will be driven from a new IKEA digital hub in Spain, so this is a unique opportunity for technology leaders who are based in Madrid and want to be part of a once in a lifetime transformation in one of the most iconic companies worldwide.

I thought I would share why I joined IKEA and why I hope you want to join as well:

● IKEA culture and values resonated with me since the very beginning: Humbleness and willpower / Leading by example / Different with a meaning / Constant desire to renew and improve / Togetherness and enthusiasm / Give and take responsibility / Simplicity / Cost-consciousness: https://about.ikea.com/en/who-we-are/our-roots/ikea-culture-and-values

● The ambitious journey IKEA is going after:

- Transforming such a global iconic brand is breath taking and one of the most amazing challenges that you can find in the world

- Change everything (almost!) - The world is changing, fast. Urbanization, technology and digitalization are disrupting and changing retail forever, and as a result, IKEA is disrupted…. We are inspired by our past and are confident about who we are and why we do what we do. For sure, some of our assets are forever strengths – our vision, business idea, culture and values, our unique offer and our unique ways of meeting customers. But, in order to reach our vision in the future, we need to change now.

● Our DNA , ‘Testing & Learning’, marries with my belief of the power of agile product focus. https://www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/pdf/reports-downloads/the-testament-of-a-furniture-dealer.pdf

● Our strong belief that diversity in teams delivers better thought through outcomes. We have a high focus on diversity. One example of this is that we have 50% male/female managers within IKEA and the commitment is to have this in every part of the organization.

● The flexible work life balance. We know when people are happy, they do their best work.

● The incredible people I have met, very humble, supportive and absolutely committed to lead our food experience into the future and create a better life for more of the many people, by putting the customer at the heart of all we do.
