The Role Explained:
The jobholder will be mainly in charge of maintaining and improving the level of the infrastructure with the management of the end user landscape experience.
His/her main tasks are but not limited to :
Workstation Update process :
· Perform an assessment of all new workstations patches to determine priority and scope of deployment.
· Testing Service Releases, Monthly security updates and service pack prior to release to the enterprise.
· Identify high impact patches or stack 1 applications that require pre-deployment testing and pilot phases.
· Engage with Client Services if an update is deemed to significantly affect the production environment.
· Manage any pre-deployment testing and pilot phases.
· Schedule the deployment of patches in line with current deployment guidelines.
· Act as a technical resource for patch deployment where necessary.
· Update procedures and policy documents to do with patching and Core applications
· Follow the process in place and communicate to the clients all the change on PC
Application release process :
· Liaise with Central teams the scheduling of released of packaged applications.
· Ensure any requests for pre-release to production users has been authorised.
· Carry out additional checks to ensure the release instructions follow standard and highlight any deviations from the standard.
· Highlight any update internal release procedures & documentation.
· Ensure that any application release pre-requisites are met 24 hours prior to release.
· Update & ensure the Enterprise store records represent a correct and clear view of the enterprise.
· Identify any potentially high impact releasesactivities and engage with Client Services where relevant.
· Housekeeping of application source content.
· Ensure the retirement process is carried out 3 months post the release of replacement package.
Other responsibilities:
· Investigating ongoing problems and providing root cause analysis for both performance and stability issues on the Windows 7 / 10 x64 platform
· Provide 2nd line technical support working with the Desktop Engineers to resolve critical issues.
Essential skills / Systems ( Incl. languages & previous experience required)
